Autonomy is a solo project. One person’s thoughts, deliberations and constructions on a life in progress. As the originator of these constructions/material I have been involved in various creative enterprises such as writing plays and a band member since the mid 1990s. Images however have played a part in my life before creative writing and creating music did, and I now find myself returning to them as a means of expressing myself and how I feel/view/interact with the world I live in.

Autonomy1 then on Tumblr is an image companion blog to my Autonomy1 Myspace music site where the emphasis is on songs I have written, recorded and produced since 2005, with a lesser amount of space given over to a rather restricted image gallery. With Autonomy images are just as important to me in my attempt at delineating an individual’s search for identity amongst the observable and veiled angles that are thrown at one as he or she travels through life.

And so, feeling the need to present the visual ideas I create through an appropriate setting, Tumblr has now become my  image window. The images I am presenting here are not meant to be a detailed document or view in total of someone’s life. Autonomy does not offer a destination in its search for individuality. These images are more stopping off points on a journey that has an obligatory destination, but no inflexible map references or course on how you arrive at that destination.

What is presented on Tumblr is a series of experiences, glances and moments…expressed in images, shades and colours…nuances, scraps of existence shaped -trapped?- within digital windows.
